Our chapter holds events throughout the year from community service beach days to holiday parties, bar tours, hiking, and everything in between. We also watch Penn State Football every game day at Hennessey's Tavern in Costa Mesa.
Today Sunday, September 20th we hosted our first in-person event since our Cotton Bowl viewing party last December!
Decked out in our blue and white, our small group safely gathered at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve for a light hike on the trail.
Join Us for a Virtual Wine Tasting with Gary Eberle, Penn State alum and owner of Eberle Winery in Paso Robles!
Gary will be sharing Eberle’s history and teaching us about the 2019 Eberle Viognier and the 2017 Eberle Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Eberle Winery is offering a special discount just for our members for this event so you can enjoy the wine he’s going to be teaching us about!
Tired of being cooped up? Need a little blue and white love while soaking up that vitamin D? We invite you out for a small social distancing group Sunday morning stroll around the Upper Newport Bay nature preserve!
Join us for a fun round of Movie Trivia on Thursday August 27 from 7pm – 8:30pm!
We will have a variety of movie trivia for everyone to enjoy, no matter what kind of movie buff you are! In fact, we base the questions on YOUR feedback. RSVP for our event here before 6pm on Wednesday August 26 to have an advantage over the categories.
Year after year, the Annual Student Sendoff is a chapter highlight. This year, the Orange County-Inland Empire Area was faced with lemons due to COVID-19. On August 13 they were turned into lemonade for 15 students, 3 parents, 1 guest, PSAA Regional Director Misha Demchuk and 9 Board Members.
Are you an Amazon.com shopper? If so, you can help us raise money for our Student Scholarship every time you check-out using our special link: https://smile.amazon.com/ch/82-5081013
To get started, all you have to do is click the link and agree to support our chapter with your purchases.
Once it’s set up, instead of going to amazon.com, start your shopping experience at smile.amazon.com. From there, Amazon will donate a small % of each purchase to our chapter. All proceeds go toward our student scholarship fund!
This year we will be holding our Penn State Student Send-Off virtually via Zoom on Thursday August 13 from 6:30 – 8pm PT.
All accepted Penn State students from Orange County or the Inland Empire and their parents or guardians are welcome to join. The event is a great way to virtually meet local students (new & existing), learn from upperclassmen and recent grads, and have last minute questions answered.
We’re excited to announce our first ever Virtual Happy Hour!
Join us for a game of “Beat Shazam” aka “Name that Tune” where your musical knowledge will be put to the ultimate test! Whether you’re 18 or 81, there’s a wide enough variety for the whole family to jam out!
Dear Penn State Alumni and Friends,
To say these are unprecedented times is an understatement. The Orange County-Inland Empire Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association (OCIEA) meets monthly online to discuss ways to bring Penn State closer to you this year. We look forward to a future where we can reconnect in person. The health and safety of our members and those around us are foremost in our minds. It’s a challenge, but we are up to the task. We miss you and we hope you feel the same.
With the fall football schedule uncertain, we’ll have little opportunity to raise money for our Endowed Student Scholarship. We take great pride in the work we’ve done to award $10,000 every year to local students seeking to join the Penn State family. Those scholarships are from your contributions at football games, membership dues, and fundraising we do all year long. But this year will be a struggle.
