As is our local Penn State alumni tradition, we gather a couple of days early to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! This past Thursday night, we brought our Penn State & Irish spirit to Muldoon’s in Newport Beach.
There were about 20 of us in fine form. Shamrock necklaces that lit up, green hats, shamrock headbands, a green tutu, a giant tie that said “Let the shenanigans begin” and even a kilt…but that is Scottish, Buck! Our Board was well represented with Michele Transport-Gonzalez, Brian Snyder, David Wolf, Camille Mesite, Bob Hunter, Valerie Stokes and chapter founder Dick Jantzer. It was nice to see Dick out and about again to celebrate with us, and we surprised him by celebrating his birthday. (Thanks to Tom Burdette for organizing!)
Irish food and drink was enjoyed as well – starting with Muldoon’s Irish soda bread, sausages, corned beef sandwiches….washed down with a pint of Guiness or Harp, or some fine Irish whiskey.
There were some familiar faces as well as a few new ones that found us from our website. Hope to see you all again at future events and watching PSU football with us in the fall. Thanks to Louise & Et Runge and Buck Buckhagen for taking photos.
Traditional Gaelic Blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY! SLAINTE!
