About Our Scholarship Funds
At the core of our Chapter’s mission is our focus on supporting the needs of students and families who join the Penn State family. It’s no small decision to uproot your West Coast life and head to Pennsylvania, which may feel as different from Orange County as living on Mars. But for those brave enough and smart enough, our Chapter contributes to the ever-increasing costs of higher education.
Every year, we send scholarship applications to returning and incoming students who have an Orange County or Inland Empire home address. Some years we’ve given out nearly a dozen awards; other years the awards are fewer and larger. But what is consistent is the high-caliber and talented list of local students who want to escape the Orange County bubble and So Cal clichés to start anew 3,000 mile away. We value that decision by the student and family, and we pour all our energy and enthusiasm into supporting them.
We also have an end-of-summer Student Send-off party to show our appreciation. It allows local students to meet each other, form bonds and connections prior to heading off to school. If you know a Penn State student or family, have them contact us for more info.
To help contribute, please consider making a tax-exempt donation to our Chapter Scholarship fund. Inquire if your company has a donation-matching program!
